TALLAHASSEE <\/strong>\u2013 Safety isn\u2019t just a position on the football field, it\u2019s the most important thing on the road, too. That\u2019s why the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is encouraging Florida residents and visitors to check its 511 Traveler Information System<\/a> before and after NFL home games to stay up-to-date on congestion, closures, crashes, construction and more.<\/p>\n

Fans can check the Florida 511 website and mobile app for the fastest and safest route to their team\u2019s stadium, and get real-time conditions and travel times along that route. Area residents can use 511 to find the best way to avoid game-day traffic.<\/p>\n

\u201cFans follow their teams. Plan ahead. Check 511,\u201d said Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Steven Montiero. \u201cThe closer you get to the sporting event, the more congested it can be. Traffic patterns will always change. Be prepared for that, and remember, travel safely.\u201d<\/p>\n

The home opener for the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field is Sunday, Sept. 11. Motorists can use 511 to check roadway conditions on I-95 and I-10. The Jaguars schedule also includes another home game this month, Sunday, September 25. For a complete schedule, visit jaguars.com.<\/p>\n
