Traffic Management
Traffic operations are monitored and managed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week across eighteen counties including Duval, St Johns, Alachua, Columbia, Clay, and Nassau, using signal timing, express lane operations, and work zone traffic management strategies.

Incident Management
Rapid incident response and coordinated traffic clearance help keep roadways safe and traffic moving. Programs such as Road Rangers, Safe Tow, Traffic Incident Management (TIM), and RISC work together to reduce delays and restore normal travel conditions as quickly as possible.

Traveler Information
Real-time traveler information helps drivers stay informed and make safer travel decisions. Tools such as FL511, dynamic message signs, travel time systems, and social media provide updates on traffic conditions, incidents, and roadway activity throughout the region.

Initiatives and Emerging Technologies
Innovative transportation solutions address current and future traffic demands across the region. Programs include Intelligent Transportation Systems initiatives such as wrong-way driving detection, connected vehicles, and truck parking information systems.

About Us
Managing traffic operations and traveler information for Northeast Florida.
The North Florida Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2015 to manage traffic in Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) District Two. The RTMC houses multiple partner agencies that all work together to operate and manage the multimodal transportation network for Northeast Florida.
The RTMC is the hub for FDOT’s Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Program in District Two. The RTMC operates twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week to provide Traffic Management, Incident Management, and Traveler Information Services.

The RTMC is the first Transportation Management Center in Florida to co-locate staff across agencies.

North Florida TPO
Supports regional transportation planning and investment initiatives, helping fund and advance traffic management technologies and infrastructure that improve mobility across Northeast Florida.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP)
Works with RTMC operators to respond to crashes and roadway incidents, helping coordinate emergency response and restore traffic flow as quickly and safely as possible.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)
Supports wildlife protection and response efforts across North Florida, assisting with animal rescue and coordination when wildlife incidents impact roadways or surrounding areas.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO)
Coordinates closely with RTMC staff to support traffic management, incident response, and emergency operations across the City of Jacksonville.
