North Florida Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC)

The North Florida Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2015 to manage traffic in Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) District Two. The RTMC houses multiple partner agencies that all work together to operate and manage the multimodal transportation network for Northeast Florida.

The RTMC is the hub for FDOT’s Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Program in District Two. The RTMC operates twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week to provide Traffic Management, Incident Management, and Traveler Information Services.

Our Services

Traffic Management

District Two’s TSM&O program manages traffic operations twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week in eighteen counties, Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union. Offering Benefits & Data, Express Lanes, Signal Timing, Work Zone Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and Emergency Evacuations.

Incident Management

The District Two incident management program optimizes traffic clearance procedures to keep our roadways safe. Under this line of service, we deal with Benefits & Data, Traffic Incident Management (TIM), Road Rangers, RISC and Safe Tow.

Traveler Information

Traveler Information is an essential service provided by District Two as this keeps drivers informed and alert with real-traffic updates. This tool assists the motoring public with making informed trip-planning decisions and promotes safer trips. Under this service we work with the FL511, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), Travel Time Info and Social Media.

Initiatives and Emerging Technologies

District Two continues to look towards the future and new ways to manage the current and growing traffic demand in the region. The District is committed to identifying areas of innovation using Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) initiatives and emerging technologies. Under this service we concentrate on Wrong Way Driving, Connected Vehicles and Truck Parking.
