The City of Jacksonville Emergency Operations Center (EOC) continues to collaborate with local and state agencies as they track and monitor potential impacts of Hurricane Idalia. UPDATES

Duval County:

A Local State of Emergency has been declared by Mayor Donna Deegan and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated Monday, August 28 at 8 AM.
A State of Emergency has been declared by Governor Ron DeSantis.
Currently, Idalia is anticipated to strengthen into a potential Category 3 Hurricane before making landfall around the Big Bend area.
There will be a potential for storm surge, localized flooding in vulnerable neighborhoods, and winds up to 58 MPH. Citizens are encouraged to review their emergency preparedness plans, and be prepared.
Government Offices will be closed to non-essential personnel Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30.
The Duval County Clerk of Courts offices will be closed from Tuesday, August 29 through Thursday, August 31. This includes both the Duval County Courthouse and the Clerk’s beaches branch at 1543 Atlantic Blvd.
All Duval County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (August 29 – 31).
Curbside Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste collection will be suspended Wednesday, August 30. Make-up collections will occur Saturday, September 2.
JEA has suspended disconnection due to non payment starting at 9:00 a.m. this morning until further notice.
Currently, no evacuations have been ordered. However the following six shelters will open Tuesday, August 29 at 12 PM:
- The Legends Center – (5130 Soutel Dr.), open for general population and special needs.
- Chimney Lakes Elementary – (9353 Staples Mill Dr.), open for general population and pet-friendly.
- Landmark Middle – (101 Kernan Blvd), open for general population and pet-friendly.
- Atlantic Coast High – School (9735 R.G. Skinner Pkwy), special needs only.
- Oceanway Elementary – (12555 Gillespie Ave.), open for general population.
- LaVilla School of the Arts – (501 N. Davis St.), open specifically for homeless individuals.

Nassau County:

Nassau County School District will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. This closure includes all school operations, school activities, and any other extracurricular events.

County offices will be close at noon on Tuesday and remain closed Wednesday. The Nassau County Courthouse will be closed Tuesday through Thursday.

Clay County:

Shelter Locations:

Lake Asbury Junior High, special needs shelter, 2851 Sandridge Rd, Green Cove Springs

Keystone Heights High School, general population and pet-friendly shelter, 900 S.W. Orchid Avenue, Keystone Heights

Orange Park High School, general population and pet-friendly shelter, 2300 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park

Government Offices:

All county government offices will be closed at noon on Tuesday, August 29, until further notice.

The Clerk’s Office will be closed Tuesday, August 29, through Thursday, August 31, including the courthouse. The branch offices will be closed on Tuesday, August 29, and Wednesday, August 30, with Thursday, August 31 closures to be determined.

Baker County:

County and Municipal Offices will be closed on Wednesday, August 30. All administrative staff and non-essential employees will be sent home. The Baker County School District will close schools Wednesday and Thursday.

The General Population Shelter located at Macclenny Elementary School, 1 Wild Kitten Drive in Macclenny, and the Special Needs Shelter at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital located at 159 N 3rd St in Macclenny will open on Tuesday, August 29 at 6:30 PM.

The Emergency Operations Center will begin full activation on Tuesday August 29 at 5:00 PM.

St. Johns County:

Ahead of Hurricane Idalia, St. Johns County is announcing updates to services for residents.

Government Offices

• All St. Johns County government offices will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

• All City of St. Augustine government offices will close on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 3 p.m. and remain closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

• All City of St. Augustine Beach government offices will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

Residential Waste Collection Service

• St. Johns County will suspend household garbage, recycling, and yard debris collection schedules on Wednesday, Aug. 30, with normal service resuming Thursday, Aug. 31.

• Residents originally scheduled for Wednesday collection will have service on Saturday, Sept. 2.

• The Tillman Ridge and Stratton Road Transfer Stations will also be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

• The City of St. Augustine garbage collection will remain on schedule on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

• The City of St. Augustine will not collect yard debris on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

• The City of St. Augustine will not collect residential recycling on Thursday, Aug. 31, and Friday, Sept. 1.

Public Library System

• All St. Johns County libraries, bookmobiles, and book drops will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

• Due dates will be extended and fines will not be incurred during the closure.

Parks and Beach Services

• All St. Johns County Parks and Recreation parks and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30. This includes the St. Johns Golf Club, beachfront parks, and beach walkovers.

• Beach driving will be closed to the public beginning Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 12 p.m. for the duration of the storm.

• The St. Johns County Pier will close on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 5 p.m. for the duration of the storm. Barricades will be in place.

Schools

• All St. Johns County School District schools and district offices will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30, due to the impending storm.

• Schools and district offices will operate as normal tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 29, including Extended Day Programs.

• Scheduled afterschool, athletic, and extracurricular activities will be canceled Tuesday, Aug. 29, through Wednesday, Aug. 30.
