JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As part of a project to replace the finger joints on the Buckman Bridge, directional double lane closures and ramp closures are planned for multiple weekends through early 2026, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Two lanes of I-295 South over the Buckman Bridge, as well as the ramp from northbound U.S. 17 to I-295 South, will close at 10 p.m. on Fridays and reopen by 4 a.m. on Mondays. During the closures, drivers on U.S. 17 North wishing to access I-295 South will take the ramp to I-295 North and exit at Blanding Boulevard to access I-295 South. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and plan additional time for travel.
In addition to bridge finger joint replacements, the project includes partial coatings and structural steel work on the I-295 Buckman Bridge over the St. Johns River in Duval County. Completion is expected in early 2026, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
