JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As part of I-95 widening from south of Atlantic Boulevard to south of Emerson Street, a traffic shift on I-95 North near the Emerson Street exit (Exit 347) will be implemented overnight Monday, June 15. This temporary traffic shift is necessary to maintain progress on roadway and bridge construction activities and is not the final configuration for this section of roadway.
Beginning with the morning commute on Tuesday, June 16, the ramp from I-95 North to Emerson Street will be relocated approximately 1,300 feet south of its existing location.
Once the shift is implemented, drivers should anticipate the following changes:
- Earlier exit point: Drivers wishing to exit at Emerson Street should begin moving into the right lane sooner than they currently do in order to access the exit ramp.
- New driving patterns: Drivers will need to anticipate the new location of the exit ramp and position their vehicles much earlier than they previously did, as access to the new ramp will be limited due to the presence of low-profile barrier wall.
- Potential impacts to Tuesday morning traffic: Minor delays and changes in traffic flow are expected as drivers adjust to the new configuration.
- Enhanced signage and pavement markings: High-visibility electronic message boards, updated signage and pavement markings will clearly direct drivers to the relocated exit.
Motorists are urged to remain alert, follow all posted signage and speed limits, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
